COVID-19 Update – 19th July 2021

With the Covid-19 restrictions ending on the 19th July 2021 we have removed the majority of the restrictions with the exception of the following which I would like our customers to be respectful of:

  • Waiting facilities – We have increased our waiting facility to accommodate two (2) people at any one time. However, if you are waiting we ask you to wear a mask as our waiting area is small with limited ventilation.
  • Masks – Our staff would prefer if you could keep wearing your mask when you visit our Reception area. However it is not mandatory in this area.
  • Lifts home – We will not be offering customers lifts home, nor assisted test drives. If you cannot get back home we can collect your vehicle and return it to you at no extra charge if this is more convenient for you.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your assistance and co-operation as we continue to move towards a form of normality.

COVID-19 Update – 27th January 2021

We are currently experiencing a power cut due to a damaged power cable in the adjacent field. We have not closed due to Covid-19 restrictions.

We currently do not have access to any power for ramps, telephones or equipment until this has been repaired by UK Power Network. We have been given an approx. time of 2pm onwards today (27th January).

We apologise for any inconvenience this causes you. If you have a booking with us today or tomorrow we will contact as soon as we can to discuss your appointment.

COVID-19 Update – 14th January 2021

January to March Lockdown Restrictions

MOT and vehicle repair garages can remain open during the current lockdown restrictions as we are classed as an essential service to keep people moving.

I would like to remind people though that we are in a lockdown period. If you require your vehicle to be repaired we are more than happy to assist.

To book your vehicle please may I ask you either call us on 01692 670271, email us at or use our online booking facility. Please try to avoid, where possible, coming directly into the garage to arrange your booking and travelling unnecessarily.

We continue to offer our free collection and delivery service so you do not have to travel and can remain safe at home.  If you would like this service, it is free to customers within a 5 mile radius, please ask when booking your vehicle in.

Our technicians are following safe practices, we change gloves before entering a new vehicle and we sanitise your steering wheel, gear stick and key when finished.

Please keep safe and follow the Government guidelines.

Update – 9th November 2020

Following the Governments recent announcement of a new lockdown within England from the 5th November to the 2nd December 2020 we want to update you on what is happening at Repps Garage.

Open as usual

As with the first lockdown, MOT stations and Garages can remain open as long as they follow the recommended safety guidelines for reducing the spread of COVID-19.

We plan to remain open throughout this lockdown period, subject to any further announcements from the Government.

We have a full compliment of staff and we are here to help and assist you where possible.

Home Collection and Delivery

We offer a free collection of your vehicle and its return for customers within an approx. 5 mile radius. Please note this is only for cars which are running and not for vehicles requiring a breakdown facility. If you would like this service, please let us know at the time of booking. All our staff have been following the recommended guidelines.

Payments can be made over the phone with your credit or debit cards to again minimise the risk of social contact.

Face Coverings

Following government guidelines, we require anyone coming into our Reception or Waiting Area to wear a Face Covering. If you do not wear a Face Covering, a member of staff can ask you to leave and return when you do have one. We sell can sell you a mask for £1 if you require one, please ask.

Waiting Room and Reception

We are continuing to operate a “1 person only” rule within our Reception and Waiting Area. If someone is already in the Waiting Area/Reception, please respect this rule and wait outside until it is suitable to enter. You may be asked by a member of staff to wait outside, if so we request you adhere to our polite request.

We are only allowing Customers to wait for MOT’s. We do not offer a while you wait service and therefore request you drop and leave your vehicle with us for its repairs and you will be contacted once your vehicle is ready for collection.

Booking your Appointment

We have an online booking system on our website where you can book a range of services and MOTs’. To minimise social contact, we would prefer you to use these where possible or to contact us via telephone on 01692 670271. We can also be reached via email at and we have a range of ways to request estimates for work via the home page on our website.


There are currently no plans for further extensions being applied to MOT’s. Therefore, if your vehicle requires an MOT you are required to book a test in order to use it on the road.

Update – 27th May 2020

Please be aware that if you have an MOT carried out on your vehicle during your 6 month extension period and the vehicle fails the test the exemption is no longer valid. This means you cannot continue to drive the vehicle until it has the failures fixed and it is retested.

Vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition and drivers can be prosecuted if they drive an unsafe vehicle.

Update – 27th April 2020

We have reopened our workshop today and are available for MOTs, services and repairs.

Please note we are working with a reduced number of staff currently. Some of our suppliers are also working with few staff numbers and this might increase the duration of any repair work undertaken or availability of some parts.

We are operating a “1 person only” rule within our Waiting Area and Reception. If someone else is already in the Waiting Area/Reception please respect this rule and wait outside until it is suitable to enter.

Update – 17th April 2020

Unfortunately I have taken the difficult decision to keep our workshop closed futher during this period to continue to protect the health and well being of my staff, their families, and all our customers.

During this period we are still able to receive telephone calls, answer emails, generate estimates and arrange bookings whilst the workshop is closed.

We have reopened today for bookings and enquiries only. Unfortunately, our workshop remains closed for the remainder of this week. I will reassess the situation again on Friday 17th April with a view on reopening the workshop on Monday 20th April.

Update – 2nd April 2020

Please be aware the six-month extension as it is not an automatic and guaranteed extension for all vehicles and will be applied as required by the DVSA.

Update – 27th March 2020

We have taken the very difficult decision to temporarily close the whole of our business in response to the Coronavirus pandemic until 15th April 2020. Nothing matters more to us than the health and well-being of our staff and their families, together with our customers during these unprecedented times.

If you need to contact us because you are a key worker requiring emergency repairs to your vehicle or you have broken down please call T.M. Autos on 07824 331988 during this period who will assist you where possible.

If your repair is not urgent then please contact us on the 15th April when we return or alternatively you can request a call back from us when we reopen by completing a Call Back Request on our website. Please click here to access the Call Back Request service.

I shall be picking up limited emails while we are temporarily closed and can be reached at if required, however, please use our Call Back Request service where possible.

Update – 25th March 2020

This morning, the DVSA announced that MOT due dates for cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by 6 months from Monday March 30th 2020, to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Vehicle owners do not need to do anything to extend their vehicle’s MOT expiry date if it’s on or after 30th March 2020. However, your vehicle must be safe to drive. Paper exemption certificates will not be needed.

The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has published guidance for vehicle owners that says:

MOT test centres can stay open after 30th March 2020 to carry out MOTs if you need one. Garages can also stay open to carry out repairs or services.

Hopefully this will help any of our customers who’s MOT expire over the coming weeks while we are closed. If your MOT expires soon my recommendation would be wait a couple of weeks and arrange to have the MOT carried out when we reopen.

We are expecting to reopen as of Wednesday 15th March 2020 if the Government lockdown is successful or relaxed more and more updates will be provided on this page so please check back regularly.

Update – 24th March 2020

Following the Prime Minister’s announcements on the 23rd March 2020 I have decided to close Repps Garage as of Friday 27th March 2020. After this date we will not be carrying out any MOT’s or repairs until it is deemed safer to reopen.

As a garage and MOT testing station we are currently exempt from the enforced closures. However, whilst I am aware of the need to keep people mobile, I also need to consider the welfare and any potential risks to my staff, and customers, by remaining open. It is for this reason that I have decided to close during this period.

Therefore, until Friday 27th March, Repps Garage will only service our existing bookings along with anyone urgently requiring an MOT whilst we have the available space. All existing bookings until Friday 27th March 2020 will be prioritised according to their urgency for work undertaken.

If you have a fault with your vehicle, please consider whether your need is urgent or whether it can wait before you contact us. We will not be undertaking any unnecessary new work during this week.

If we carry out an MOT to your vehicle before Friday 27th March 2020 and it should fail then we will be unlikely to carry out any of the required repair work or the retest. If this should happen then you will need to find a place of repair who can carry it out and you will need to pay them for another MOT test. This is because an MOT Testing Station cannot carry out a retest of an MOT conducted by another testing station. It is important you understand this.

Moving forward I will keep our website and our Facebook page updated as often as possible with our plans and any dates we shall reopen from.

Update – 19th March 2020

In light of the recent world events and the effects of the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus) I want to reassure our customers that we are planning to remain open over the coming weeks. This means we will be available for you if you require an MOT, service or repair to your vehicle.

Vehicle collection

We have always offered a local collection and return service for your vehicle. I would like to remind customers we will be continuing to do this. Furthermore we are more than happy to do this should you prefer not to venture from home or visit us in person during these pressing times.

Limiting risk

We are taking precautions where possible at Repps Garage to limit the spread of COVID-19 by adopting the following practices:

  • Hand sanitiser to be made available to all staff and customers
  • All technicians to change gloves each time they enter a new vehicle
  • All technicians to wash their hands at each glove change
  • All non-workshop staff to wash hands at regular intervals and to use hand sanitiser after the handling of any cash

We will continue to work hard & try to ensure the minimal amount of disruption to your vehicle repairs. My team are very committed and will try to help you stay mobile and on the road as much as possible.
